        Join fellow Elementary Math Teachers at this morning conference focused on teaching techniques and strategies used to teach elementary grade students.

Have you ever wondered how to reach a diverse group of learners AND enhance their motivation and engagement simultaneously?  If so, then this is the session for you.  
Presenters will focus on one specific strategy for differentiating instruction called Choice Boards.  Not only will you learn what they are and how to create them, but you will see actual examples of standards-based Choice Boards that are being used across the state.

Participants in this session will experience the five important mathematical processes of communication, reasoning, connections, problem solving, and representation through activities that cut across content areas and grade levels.

Making Sense with Model Drawing  with Dewey Gottlieb, Mathematics Educational Specialist, State-DOE
This session will demonstrate how the Sinagapore Math Model Drawing approach can be a useful tool for students in problem solving situations, as well as a strategy to help teachers to build bridges between concrete, pictorial and abstract representations.  The model drawing approach can be a great addition to a student's toolkit of problem solving strategies that helps them translate words into diagrams and symbols, as well as to make sense of operations.

Integrating Math & Science   with Elizabeth Shigeta, former State Math Resource Teacher, and  Karen Umeda former State Science Resource Teacher
